Plantation Crops Development

1. To utilize the slopes of the hills which are unfit for development for agriculture use but suitable for a more profitable use by cultivation of plantation Crops like Coffee, Rubber, Black pepper, Cloves, Nutmegs, Cocoa, Spices and Betelnuts etc.

2. To create employment facilities in the Hill areas in particular and in all other suitable localities to the people depending mainly on shifting cultivation as their sole means of livelihood, to shift the basis of tribal economy from shifting cultivation to a more profitable land- use basis and thereby to wean them away from the civil and uneconomic practices of humming.

3. To take over, acquire of otherwise assume the existing plantations of Cash Crops like Coffee, Rubber, Black Pepper, Cashew nut, Cardamom, Cloves, Nutmegs and others raised by the State Soil Conservation Department in proper and scientific manner.

4. To extend cultivation of such Cash Crops in suitable localities in Assam and to manage and maintain plantations so raised on a commercial and economic basis.

 

5. To process, market and trade the plantation Crops produced by the Corporation and or produced by private or other public Sector Plantation, gardens etc. in the state.
